Diamond Head Light House on Oahu, Hawai'i

I hiked to the top of Diamond Head Crater the other day for the first time. The hike is very strenuous and surprisingly hard. I alternate walking five miles and swimming each day. One lady collapsed in the tunnel near the top.

On the way back home, I stopped near the Diamond Head Light House to reflect on the day's events. The area around Diamond Head is dry this year. Some years it is a beautiful green color, but it is currently a barren brown color.

The brush would not allow an unobstructed view of the light house and ocean, so this was the best image I could grab. Notice that this light house is on the leeward side of the island of Oahu. The trade winds hit the other side of the island and the warmth of the land causes some clouds to build in the mountains. This explains why the clouds do not extend out over the ocean.

Korean Festival at Kapiolani Park

These are pictures from last year's Korean Festival at Kapiolani Park. This year, since I will be a volunteer there, no pictures will be taken by me. Stop by and say high!

Action at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center

It was very interesting hearing the steel drums. It brought back memories from my youth growing up in the Virgin Islands. Ha! They actual had a steel band from the mainland. I watched the drum maker on St. Thomas, USVI bang out the drums. He would actually tune them by banging the areas of the drum. They are made out of fifty-five gallon drums. What a great way to recycle.
Here are some onlookers.

There was a lot of action at the hula show. I bet the ladies loved watching this guy.

A beautiful morning looking towards the Royal Hawaiian and Hilton Hotels.

One guy decided to flip himself off of the pier at Kapahulu.

Hawai' Veteran's Memorial

This Veteran's Memorial, more specifically, the Viet Nam Veteran's Memorial is on the grounds of the state capitol building. It is kind of hidden on the Eastern side of the lawn.

July 3rd Rainbow in Waikiki Hawaii

Here is this morning's rainbow.  It would rain, then show a beautiful rainbow. About the time people would forgive and forget the rain, the drops would fall again...
