I hiked to the top of Diamond Head Crater the other day for the first time. The hike is very strenuous and surprisingly hard. I alternate walking five miles and swimming each day. One lady collapsed in the tunnel near the top.
On the way back home, I stopped near the Diamond Head Light House to reflect on the day's events. The area around Diamond Head is dry this year. Some years it is a beautiful green color, but it is currently a barren brown color.
The brush would not allow an unobstructed view of the light house and ocean, so this was the best image I could grab. Notice that this light house is on the leeward side of the island of Oahu. The trade winds hit the other side of the island and the warmth of the land causes some clouds to build in the mountains. This explains why the clouds do not extend out over the ocean.
